Melville Intermediate - Girls Self Defence
On the 27th of March 2012 the year 8 girls at Melville Intermediate school went on a self defense course.
It was a day and a half course of learning how to get out of an attack from a bigger, stronger and older adult.
It was a really fun experience and all the girls really enjoyed it. We played 5 games and learned to kick, punch and many more escapes for these situations. Our teachers name was Alison and she was really nice, she read us articles out of the newspaper about people who got out of difficult situations, most of the people who were attacked were only little kids. So pretty please leave us a comment! Thank you

Melville Intermediate - Inter Intermediate Touch 2012
Today Melville Intermediate competed in their second major Waikato Competition for 2012, the Inter Intermediate Touch Tournament held at Swarbrick Park in Frankton. It was a huge day of competition with the Melville Intermediate teams against those from the entire region.
The Boys started off with a draw against Maeroa Intermediate School 2-2. They then played Matamata Intermediate winning 3-2. Up next they took on Berkley Intermediate, losing one nil, before finishing off with another win this time against Fairfield Intermediate 2-1. Unfortunatly other results had gone against them, and they placed third in their pool. Our warmest congratulations go to Peachgrove Intermediate and Te Awamutu Intermediate who again contested the final, with Peachgrove winning 2-1.
The Girls started a little slowly being defeated by Maeroa Intermediate 0-2 in game one, before drawing the second with Berkley Intermediate 0-0. Melville then managed to convincingly defeat Cambridge Middle School 4-2, leaving the final game against Matamata Intermediate with a win required to put Melville into the semi-final. Matamata scored on the stroke of half time, Melville scored within two minutes of the start of the second half, however despite numerous chances the winning try just wouldn't come, leaving the Girls missing out on the semi-finals on points difference (of one) to Berkley. Again our warmest congratulations to Peachgrove and Maeroa who played in the final and especially to Maeroa who won 4-1.

Melville Intermediate - Vs. Maeroa Intermediate
On Tuesday 7th March 2012 our Girls Basketball team played their fourth 2012 game. We'd done really well so far, defeating two club teams and having a draw with a third. We were a bit nervous playing Maeroa Intermediate when we turned up because they had all Boys in their team (except for one player), but Melville (in the Red and Green) played really well defensively restricting Maeroa (in the blue) to three points by half time (after twenty minutes of game time) and only two more points in the whole rest of the game (40 minutes). At the same time Melville were able to score 49, meaning that we kept our unbeaten run going and are now 3-1-0. For the season. This Tuesday we have a game against KBC Korus'.

Melville Intermediate - Featured at Waikato Stadium
On Friday 2nd March 2012 19 people from Melville Intermediate School went to play Rippa Rugby at Swarbrick Park in Frankton. When we got there we were very nervous. We had five games against Fairfield Intermediate, Cambridge Middle School, Morrinsville Intermediate, and we played against the other Melville Intermediate School team.
In our first game we played against Fairfield Intermediate we won 7-1. We then played Cambridge Middle School and we lost 4-7. After that we played Morrinsville Intermediate and won 8-6. Then again we had another game with Patarangi and we beat them 8-4. We played against the other Melville Intermediate team and we lost. We still made it into the Semi-Finals and we won, and then we had a feed that was yum.
That same night we went to Waikato Stadium to play the finals as a curtain raiser for the Blues Vs. Chiefs Super Rugby Game. We tried very hard against Cambridge in the final but we still lost by a little bit, the score was 12-17, but we had fun.
