The 2012 AIMS (Association Intermediate and Middle Schools) website is now fully up and running. This has all the details of the upcoming AIMS Tournament in September. Melville Intermediate is going for the fourth straight year in Girls Basketball at the moment, but maybe in a couple of area's as well. Melville Intermediate's Girls team have nearly finished their term one preparation, with a Pool Semi-Final on Tuesday against Maeroa Intermediate School. The team consisted mainly of Boys (Melville Intermediate are of course all Girls) and the game was close at the start but Melville Intermediate were able to win the game 55-6. This puts our Girls into the Pool Final next week against 'X Factor 78'.

Melville Intermediate - AIMS Games 2012
We're getting ready for the biggest sporting event in New Zealand for 2012 - last year Melville Intermediate was there with over 140 other schools for the 2012 AIMS Games along with another 4500 students. We've got a strong record in Girls Basketball since 2009 we've finished 1st/4th/3rd in successive years and this year looks like being another strong year for Melville. We're currently competing on Tuesday nights in a mixed league with a Girls team, playing against Boys and Club teams! Despite that we're currently unbeaten prior to this game against Koromatua (KBC) which was played Tuesday.

Melville Intermediate - Vs. Maeroa Intermediate
On Tuesday 7th March 2012 our Girls Basketball team played their fourth 2012 game. We'd done really well so far, defeating two club teams and having a draw with a third. We were a bit nervous playing Maeroa Intermediate when we turned up because they had all Boys in their team (except for one player), but Melville (in the Red and Green) played really well defensively restricting Maeroa (in the blue) to three points by half time (after twenty minutes of game time) and only two more points in the whole rest of the game (40 minutes). At the same time Melville were able to score 49, meaning that we kept our unbeaten run going and are now 3-1-0. For the season. This Tuesday we have a game against KBC Korus'.
