Melville Intermediate - Cross Country Highlights
Today Melville Intermediate held their 2013 Cross Country race at school. Both year groups competed in Boys/Girls races looking to win house points for our team competition. The races were held at 9:00am and 10:00am and Room Five had the first highlights online by 11:00am. This video was recorded by a number of Room Five students on Thursday 5th September 2013. Edited by Bianca and Kristal from Room Five.

This is Harry from Room Five's recount about the School Cross Country.
It was the day of the Cross Country. My legs were shaking like a dogs tail. Mr Keegan blew the horn. "Hang on, hang on - that was just a test". "What?" I said. Then the horn went for real everybody was pushing and nudging. Someone pushed me over. I got up and kept running then a few seconds later I stood on a giant thistle! Ouch! I stood in a spot picking the thistles out of my foot but I kept on running. Suddendly I was approaching the giant Melville High School field, it was huge! As I was starting to get to the end I spewed in the bush but then I kept on running the last straight. "Yus!" I said but someone was behind me so I sprinted my legs off then I crossed the finish line. All the girls were squealing like babies, Katipa wrote my group down. I was dissapointed in myself but after all that had happened I still finished the race.

Melville Intermediate - Inter-Intermediate Hockey Tournament
On Thursday 30th May some Melville kids went to Innes Commen for the Inter-Intermediate Hockey tournament. The kids in the Melville team were chosen from our Winter Olympics team.
We left school at about quarter to 9 the morning. The school bus took us. In the Melville team there was Rebbeca, Alanis, Aleesha, Raven, Connor, Bunnarath, Ford, Dennis and I. We played 4 games. We lost all of our games, except for 1. We tied 1 game but we had to do penalty shoot out. Both of the teams had 5 people doing the shoot outs. Our team got 3 goals and the other team got 4 goals. Our goal shooters were Aleesha, Alanis, Ford, Raven and Bunnarath. Aleesha, Ford and Raven got our 3 goals for my team. After our last game we all watched some of the game untill Paul the school bus driver came to pick us up. After all of us were in the bus we went to pick up the soccer people from Jansen Park. Once the roll was done we headed back to school. At the end of the day I think Melville Hockey team went pretty well even though we lost all our games.

Melville Intermediate - Bianca Activity Week Recount Part Two
Thisi is the conclusion to Bianca's recount about activity week.
we made some more cards. I made a Christmas card for my niece, big brother, mother, father and big sister. I also made a congratulations card to my big sister and brother in-law, because they are having a baby next year. When I finished all of my cards I helped to clean up the floor. After we had finished cleaning up the floor it was lunch time. For lunch we ordered pizza. Jamie and I had ham and cheese with barbeque sauce on top. Lunch went so fast it was not funny, but Jamie and I were happy because after lunch we were doing something really cool. After lunch we went to the library to watch a movie. Jamie and I brought our beanbags, it was so comfy. The movie we watched was mirror, mirror. We didn’t have any sound for about half an hour. But when we got our sound we started to watch the movie. We only got to watch 3 quarters of the movie. When the bell went we had to go back to the sewing room to get all of our stuff. Jamie and my hands were really full because we had to take our beanbags, jar, cards, bag and canvas. But we put our cards into our bag and so we only had to take our canvas, jar and beanbag. Once Jamie walked out-side she lost grip of her jar and it fell to the ground. I had put my jar into my bag so then it would be safe. When Jamie dropped her jar all I heard was a bang and I looked back and Jamie’s jar was on the ground. I power walked over to her and helped her to clean it up. Once the jar was cleaned up we went out to the front gate, Jamie hopped into her car and I was standing out-side waiting for my mum but she didn’t come so Jamie’s mum Gail offered a ride to her place.

Melville Intermediate - Survivor: Melville Episode 2
In the first episode of the 2012 season (full recap below) Parauri won the first challenge sending Whero to elimination. In the second episode Whero were looking to press home their advantage, Parauri to even the score.
In this episode the teams had to run a short course holding onto a rope and work as a team, but temptation was just on the horizon... Any player could leave their team at any time and make a dash for the immunity horse that was located a short distance away. Would anyone betray their team to guarantee themselves another round in the game? Who would win the race to the finish? Who would be eliminated?
To further complicate matters for Whero apart from losing the first challenge both Tara (CPA trip to Auckland) and Aublix (Moon boot) had to have last minute replacements filling in for them! How would Jayden and Shannon match up at short notice?
This season has only five weeks remaining, until the sole survivor remains! Filmed on location at Melville Intermediate by the production team of Veronica, Bianca and Jessie from Room Six.
Please note: this episode was filmed during rain and high winds and contains some distortion during the running of the challenge please take care with the volume levels!
Episode One - Full Recap.
The 2012 season started with an indoor challenge due to difficult weather outside. Both teams had to stack die on top of each other with the 'six' facing the top and put a small silver trophy on the top to signify victory. Both Whero (red) and Parauri (brown) started strongly. The break came in the seventh round when Adrian defeated Aublix to make the scores 4-3 to Parauri. In the next round to force sudden death Tyryn had to beat Woody, but he was unable to do so and Parauri won the first challenge, sending Whero to the elimination vote. In the vote for Whero, everyone was at risk. The first 'blind side' of the game took place, when Brent from Room Five thought he was voting with the others to eliminate Aublix, however everyone, including his best friend in the game, Bunnarath, voted to send Brent out instead and he was the first individual eliminated in 2012 and Room Five was the first classroom to be taken out of the game.
