Melville Intermediate- Y6 2013

On the 4th the 5th and the 6th the year 6 kids from Deanwell Primary School , Melville Primary School and Glenview Primary School came to Melville Intermediate to get a tour of the school me and 3 other people were chosen to make cookies and tell them about the cooking room and the kind of food that we get to make.

Melville Intermediate - Survivor: Melville Episode 2

In the first episode of the 2012 season (full recap below) Parauri won the first challenge sending Whero to elimination. In the second episode Whero were looking to press home their advantage, Parauri to even the score.

In this episode the teams had to run a short course holding onto a rope and work as a team, but temptation was just on the horizon... Any player could leave their team at any time and make a dash for the immunity horse that was located a short distance away. Would anyone betray their team to guarantee themselves another round in the game? Who would win the race to the finish? Who would be eliminated?

To further complicate matters for Whero apart from losing the first challenge both Tara (CPA trip to Auckland) and Aublix (Moon boot) had to have last minute replacements filling in for them! How would Jayden and Shannon match up at short notice?

This season has only five weeks remaining, until the sole survivor remains! Filmed on location at Melville Intermediate by the production team of Veronica, Bianca and Jessie from Room Six.

Episode One - Full Recap.
The 2012 season started with an indoor challenge due to difficult weather outside. Both teams had to stack die on top of each other with the 'six' facing the top and put a small silver trophy on the top to signify victory. Both Whero (red) and Parauri (brown) started strongly. The break came in the seventh round when Adrian defeated Aublix to make the scores 4-3 to Parauri. In the next round to force sudden death Tyryn had to beat Woody, but he was unable to do so and Parauri won the first challenge, sending Whero to the elimination vote. In the vote for Whero, everyone was at risk. The first 'blind side' of the game took place, when Brent from Room Five thought he was voting with the others to eliminate Aublix, however everyone, including his best friend in the game, Bunnarath, voted to send Brent out instead and he was the first individual eliminated in 2012 and Room Five was the first classroom to be taken out of the game. 

Melville Intermediate - Survivor Melville: Episode One!

Today it finally kicked off! The highly anticipated 2012 series of Survivor:Melville. The two teams for 2012 are Whero (Red) and Parauri (Brown). Weather was variable for the first challenge forcing the teams inside for a 2011 series favourite 'The Tower of Doom'.

Each team nominated one player who threw four dice, the dice were turned over to the 'six' side before a cup placed on top would determine the winner. The first team to score five points would claim immunity and more importantly would send the other team straight to elimination! With only ten competitors this year the first elimination was vitally important. No-one would want to have the distinction of going out first. Melville Intermediate - PrEP Market Day: This Friday

Unbelievably its here already, one of the biggest days of the year for Melville Intermediate School, the annual PrEP Market Day. This year the market day is taking place on Friday, that's Friday 26th October from 4:30pm-6:00pm. All the students of Melville Intermediate School have been preparing for the past three weeks, working on producing a product or service for the event. This Friday RM5@Melville Intermediate School will of course have a huge amount of footage and pictures. This video shot on Friday 19th of October by Jay from Room Five. Jay is one of the members of 'Paper Cuts' and this is an explanation of the business and what they are producing.

Melville Intermediate - Survivor: Melville 2012 Starts Tomorrow!

After a term of planning, after weeks of pre production and organization behind the scenes the first episode of Survivor: Melville the 2012 season is being shot tomorrow! Today the teams were officially selected for the competition.  Each contestant had to draw from a container, those players who pulled a red bandana would make up the 'Whero' team.  Whero for 2012 consists of Tara from Room One, Aublix from Room Two, Brent from Room Five, Tyryn from Room Six and Bunnarath from Room Eight.

Competing against them is Parauri The 2012 team consists of Keziah from Room Seven, Veronica from Room Twelve, Adrian from Room Thirteen, Woody from Room Fourteen and Mitchell from Room Eighteen.

 

Melville Intermediate - Veronica's Extension Cooking Recount

On Monday afternoons I have extension cooking.   Extension cooking is when the cooking teacher, Mrs Brown, picks up how ever many kids she wants and does an extension cooking program.  Now I'm going to tell you about when we made the orange muffin.  First we had to get out all of our items out.  I started smiling when we saw that we had a great big orange.  I got my friend to peel it while I made the mix for the muffins.  All my friend was doing after she had grated the orange was asking if I needed help doing this and that by the time I was done we were ready to put the muffins in the oven.  After 14 to 20 minutes we had to take the muffins out and they looked some yum! At 3:00pm we had to go home sadly my friend came back from where she had to go and that meant that I didn't get to eat her muffins as well as mine.  I've really liked the opportunity to be involved in extension cooking this term.  Report by Veronica a student from Room Five, Melville Intermediate School.

Melville Intermediate - Options at MIS Presentation

This Tuesday, June 12th Melville Intermediate School are hosting an open evening showing off the Technology program to the community.  The work of our students and the availability of our programs will be put on display for everyone to see.   This video was recorded on Friday 8th June and demonstrates what option classes 'electives' are available to the students of Melville Intermediate from 11:00am to 12:20pm.

Melville Intermediate - Cambridge Rippa Rugby

On Friday 15th May 2012 Melville Intermediate School competed in the Waikato Rippa Rugby Finals.  One of the schools competing against Melville was Cambridge Middle School who had triumphed against us at the Inter Intermediate Finals.  Melville (in Red/Green) and Cambridge (Blue).  The highlights were filmed by Veronica from Room Five.

Melville Intermediate - Best Tries of 2012!

This is our final Girls Rugby Video of 2012.  It's the best nine tries scored in 2012 by our Open Grade Girls Rugby Union team at the 2012 Waikato Inter Intermediate Competition on Tuesday 8th May 2012. 

Melville Intermediate - Girls Rugby Vs. Tokoroa

The third game for Melville Intermediate at the 2012 Inter Intermediate Girls Rugby Competition was against the 2011 Champions, Tokoroa Intermediate School.  Melville were going into the game in a positive frame of mind with two wins from two, Tokoroa had a win and a loss.   The first half was extremely tight, with neither team able to score so the second half was crucial.  Tokoroa are in the Red, Melville Intermediate are in the Green, Veronica from Room Five is filming and this footage was shot on Tuesday 8th May 2012.

Melville Intermediate Vs. Morrinsville Intermediate

On Tuesday 8th May the Melville Intermediate Girls Open Grade Rugby team played their opening game of the 2012 Inter Intermediate Tournament at Memorial Park, Cambridge.  Our opponents were Morrinsville Intermediate School who we hadn't beaten in four years.  Melville was keen to start the tournament in a positive way although the Girls were very nervous because for some it was their first game of rugby.  The highlights were filmed by Veronica from Room Five, with assistance from Kayla from Room Five.

Melville Intermediate - Rippa Rugby Vs. Crawshaw School

This video, filmed by Veronica from Room Five is highlights of Melville Intermediate Schools game against fellow Hamilton School Crawshaw School.  For those of you who haven't seen or heard of 'Rippa Rugby' instead of teams having to tackle other players both sets of players have a Velcro belt with two tags on it, one on each hip.  Players from the other team 'rip' one of the tags off to affect a tackle.  This tournament was very special because Melville Intermediate had two teams in the tournament, both of whom made the finals.  Our School teams only lost one pool play game, when Melville Intermediate 'B' were defeated by Crawshaw School, this game!
