Melville Intermediate - Leo Club Assembly Presentation

Leo club meets every Wednesday at lunch time to discuss their fundraisers and money. We also have popcorn selling for $2.00 as well. We do lots of fundraising outside and inside school, such as collecting cantabs, cans, popcorn, phone batteries ect. This year we decided to donate $500 worth of pet food to the SPCA. All together it ended up weighing 190 kilos. The SPCA were very thankful and the little dog Stella seemed very excited to see all that food.

Melville Intermediate - Leo Club Car Wash

On Tuesday the 9th of April 2013 Our school Leo Club did a carwash to fundraise some money. We washed seven cars at $5 a car so we made $35!!! We did it at lunch time and I thought it was a really good idea because everyone enjoyed washing the cars and it was for a good cause because all the money goes for food for the SPCA (The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Here are some pictures of how much fun we had.

Melville Intermediate - Leo Club Fundraiser

The Leo Club is a fundraising group for helping our community, and other schools in need. Last term the Leo Club went to Sir Edmund Hillary Middle School in Auckland. We all do some similar projects like sausage sizzles etc. Sir Edmund Hillary School have been fundraising every second Monday or Wednesday by selling popcorn at their school. The popcorn is put in a microwave oven for between three and three and a half minutes. We sell it to students for two dollars a bag and every Friday (when we sell the popcorn at Melville Intermediate School) we sell about 30 bags every Friday. We have five or six students who help Mr Yardley to sell the popcorn. We've made a video below of us selling Popcorn on Fridays so you can see the whole process. Report by Jamie from Room 8. Video filmed by Jamie and Santana from Room 8 and presented by Jamie.

The Leo club at Sir Edmund Hillary’s school made them for us. We had to get in to groups of five and then we were off looking around the school. We all wonted to go toilet so they showed us where the toilets where and we went. Then it was time to go so we sad go bye and then off we went back to school when we got there the time was 3:20 so we all had to get off really fast so the bus people got to go home. We got to go straight home witch was really fun. At the end of the day it was a fun trip in the end.

On Tuesday 16 of June the Leo Club went to Auckland to meet Sir Edmund Hillary Middle School Leo Club. When we got there we went to the music room. After we had something to eat the Leo Club went in to the gym the other school gave us Laes. When we sat down and they gave us such a good welcome after they finished the Leo club sang”I am yours”. After the Leo club had finished their song then other school sang us another song. When it was over the Sir Edmund Hillary Leo club showed us around. After we got shown around we went back into the gym. The school told us how they do their Leo club. When they were doing it we got to have some popcorn. When they finished we got some lunch. We had some sausages and a drink to go with it. After we had finished lunch we got back on the bus and then all the kids sat down laughing and talking. We had such a good time. We learnt that we could raise lots of money with different fund raises. By the time we got back to school it was 3:20pm so we could go straight home.
