Melville Intermediate - Quadblogging Introductory Videos

We are part of an awesome group of classrooms, students and schools involved in the Quadblogging Aotearoa Project.  There are four other schools as well as ourselves Tawa Intermediate (Wellington), Selwyn House School and Mt Pleasant School (both from Christchurch).  One of the things that we (Room Five) decided that we could create for our new friends was some video tours of our schools and environment.   This video was created by Douglas, Hamish with assistance.  Filmed and edited by the students, posted and uploaded all this morning/afternoon Tuesday 18th June 2013.

We had a brainstorming session in the classroom about what areas would be of interest to people getting to know our school.  One of the areas that we are very proud of is our school entrance way, which was built in 2013.  We have a series of posts with our school values (the MIS STARS) on display on it.  We have an entranceway that lights up in the evening and that reflects the cultures of MIS School.

  1. Thank you for the tour of Melville Intermediate. I can see lots of changes since I used to teach there. The entrance way is very impressive and I think the Maori carvings and murals are a great asset. I'm glad you are enjoying quadblogging. Keep up the good work.

  2. Hi Room 5,

It is so great to see your school! What a stunning entrance. I love your MIS STARS displayed on the carved posts. I would love to see this lit up at night....I might need to check the school website. I wonder if there is a photo there? It looks like you have a lot of outdoor space which is great.

Selwyn House has a Learner Profile which is similar in many ways to your MIS STARS. It would be interesting to compare them- I think they have a lot in common.

I will ask our girls to make a similar clip but it might be next week. We are on Snowstorm Alert here and if the meteorologists are correct, I don't think we'll be at school on Thursday or Friday!

    Great idea, Room 5.

  3. Thanks for the great idea Room 5. You have given my students a lot of think about. We are also taking part in the Quadblogging Aotearoa Project and you have given us a lot of motivation to start planning how we will share our class and school with the other blogs!
