Today Melville Intermediate Basketball Girls team had their last pool games and semi-finals of the 2010 AIMS Games. Playing
Orewa College to confirm a spot in the semi-finals an extremely close game went down to the wire with
Orewa edging Melville 18-22. This meant in Pool A of the Girls Basketball Competition there was a three way tie for first place, between Melville Intermediate,
Orewa College and
Kaitoa Middle School. On a points
count back Melville Intermediate were placed first,
Kaitoa second and
Orewa third. The semi-finals in the afternoon saw Melville taking on last years 3rd place team
Kura o
te Koutu. The
Kura dominated from the start both offensively and
defensively, taking a 23 point lead into half time, which proved too much for Melville to recover. The final score was 21-49 to Kura o te Koutu, worthy winners who now advance to tomorrows finals. Melville Intermediate School now has a play off for the bronze medals in the competition at 12:00pm on Thursday afternoon. The Boys Soccer team will be playing off for 18th-20th position. Our Hip Hop team performed at the Gymsport last night, and unfortunatly did not place.
