Melville Intermediate - MIS Option Lessons

On Thursday afternoon all students of Melville Intermediate School have an elective, or an option of lessons that they can choose from. There is a huge amount of choices for the students to select, one of the most popular from Room 12 being the Jewellery making. This insight into Jewellery making was filmed on Thursday 23rd September 2010 by Samm and Kelly.

  1. Love your class photo! How lucky for all of you to be able to choose electives. Thanks for your recent post on our blog. We do have some poisonous spiders in Canada, but they are rare. We tried to get a photograph of the spider so we could research it on the Internet, but as soon as we opened the container, it took off! It was so fast, that we didn't get the picture. It would have been nice to know what kind of spider it was. Some of our students wanted to keep it as a pet, but the majority of us felt that it wouldn't have been fair to the spider. So, we set him free!

  2. We live in Southwestern Ontario and there are a few wild animals that live here - deer, coyotes, racoons, squirrels, skunks, possums, birds, red foxes, rabbits, snakes, owls, frogs, toads, turtles, fish and lots of bugs. However, if you travel north for about five hours, you will be in cottage country. There you might run into a black bear. If you travel even further north, you may find a moose. They are beautiful and very large.

  3. @ Room 143 - We've had conversations with classrooms in Canada through Skype, Racoons are animals that students in New Zealand dont know much about but they are obviously quite common in Canada!
