Melville Intermediate - Waiata for Meadowbank School

As we approach the end of the year for 2010 Melville Intermediate School students are using our knowledge of Te Reo Maori and helping other schools and students around New Zealand with their understanding of Maori Language. Meadowbank school in Auckland have asked us to post a couple of Waiata for their students to learn.

We asked our friends in Room Two to help out, and Ora, Terrina and Sita volunteered to help. Ashton from Room One played the guitar. The above Waiata (Song) is Hoiki. We also asked them to come up with a second Waiata and they came up with Hehonere. The Girls made themselves available at very short notice and did a beautiful job. We are going to be posting the words for each song tomorrow.

  6. Dear Ora, Terrina, Sita, and Ashton,

Fabulous! The voices are beautiful, the guitar playing magnificent, and the video recorder person did a super job too! Super steady!

I can't wait to see the words published. It would be great if the lyrics were added just below the video because then we can see the performers and the lyrics at the same time. That would help us learn the songs.

    Terrific work, everyone!
