Melville Intermediate - School High Jump Finals 2010

Today we had the Y7 School High Jump Finals. The Inter-Intermediate Waikato area sports competition is taking place at Porritt Stadium, on Tuesday 30th of November. Todays competition saw Holly from Room Eight in the Girls Final and a close competition between Hone and Jake from Room Fourteen and Richard from Room Six. The Boys had three attempts at each height with 1.30m proving to be a stern test. The students had three attempts at it but only one student would jump to claim the title. You'll have to watch to find out who! Filmed by Daniel from Room 18 on Monday 15th November 2010 at Melville Intermediate School Gym.

  1. Congratulations, Jake! We are in room 804 in Warrenton, Virgina, USA. We don't participate in high jump at our school, but we wish we could. We do have an end of the year competition against other schools called PE Olympics. There we have running, throwing, and basketball competitions. Just like the real olympics, the winner gets a ribbon. Do the winners of your high jump receive ribbons or other awards?

  2. My second daughter, Minden high jumps for our high school track team. I don't know how she does it I can barely make it over a crack in the sidewalk. Congratulations Jake on your win!

  3. @ Mrs Conners and Room 804 - thanks so much for your comments I have shared them with Jake and he is thrilled. If by chance you yourself and your students have a class page please leave us a note with the address so we can visit and leave feedback to you as well.
@ Wm Chamberlain Ha I am sure that Minden is improving in leaps and bounds (no pun intended!) I look forward to seeing footage of her athletic triumphs!
