Melville Intermediate - Damiens Hip Hop Recount

Today (Friday 23rd November) I did hip hop .  Our hip hop teacher had danced with Young Money, Cash Money, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake.  He taught us a dance.   We learnt the whole routine in and hour and a half.  It was awesome.

Melville Intermediate - Hip Hop Royal Family Tour

On Thursday 17th May there was a hip hop crew called 'Royal Family' that came to our school. The show started at 9:00am. When the show started they did moves like the robot and douggie. They were going to Las Vegas to represent New Zealand at the world champs. Everyone had a fun time. People were asked to come up on stage and dance with them, Some of the performers were students from Melville Intermediate School (who had been but now went to High School). Melville Intermediate - Hip Hop Gymsport Nationals

Last week on Wednesday our School Hip Hop Team preformed in the Gymsports Competition at the 2010 AIMS (Association of Intermediate and Middle School) Games. The team put in a huge effort with their routine and ended up coming fourth by the slimmest of margins (only 0.5 out of a hundred separated us from third and the bronze medals!) This is our final rehearsal for Hip Hop for the 2010 AIMS Games. The students have put a huge amount of effort into this performance in making themselves available and the tutors from Melville High School have been outstanding. Filmed by Lana on Friday 3rd September 2010.

Melville Intermediate - Hip Hop 2010 Preparations

Next week we have the 2010 AIMS Sports Competition in Tauranga, this is the Nationals for Intermediate aged students in New Zealand and our students have been preparing for some time for the competition. We have our Girls Basketball team who are the defending National Champions, who warmed up with winning the Waikato Inter-Intermediate Competition last Tuesday in Te Awamutu, defeating Fairfield Intermediate in the Semi-Finals and Tokoroa Intermediate in the Finals. We have our Boys Football team competing for the first time and on Wednesday in the Gymsport Competition we have our School Hip Hop team. The team is busy preparing and of course we can't show you the full routine this is footage of the group preparing!

Melville Intermeidiate - Stanley Ave School Performance

On Friday the Melville Intermediate School CPA and Hip Hop groups travelled to Te Aroha to perform for Stanley Avenue School on Friday 7th August. This was the Hip Hop groups first actual performance in front of an audience - would it all pay off? Would the students hard work come through in the performance? Melville Intermediate - Dance Studio Rehearsal

On Friday the 31st of July students from Melville Intermediates CPA and Hip Hop Group had an opportunity to go to a dance studio and practise infront of a mirror to focus on improving thier presentation. Filmed by Cleveland and Destyn from Room 8 on Friday 31st July.

Today myself and a whole lot of other students went to the 'Born to Dance Studio'. We went as Melvilles Hip Hop group and CPA. I was very lucky to have the chance to go to such a place and rehearse. We were able to perform in front of huge mirrors which allowed us to see ourselves and improve our routines. Caitlyn, Room 8.

Probably one of the most well received series of videos from last term was footage of the school hip hop group rehearsing. This term the group came together on the first day back, and of course we were there (Liam, R8) to record the rehearsal. Filmed at Melville Intermediate on Monday 20th July 2009.

Amongst our most popular material at present from our own school is footage of our school Hip Hop group who have been practising every Thursday, and also as you'll know from recent recounts also on Sundays at a local dance studio. This was filmed by Liam on Thursday 25th June 2009 at the Melville Intermediate School Hall.

Melville Intermediate - Hip Hop Group

On Sunday we went to a dance studio. It was called 'Born to Dance'. When we got there I saw Destyn who was dancing outside in the cold. When the group went into the studio we got straight into it. We did our warm ups then we started. Half way through me and Destyn made up some new moves and learnt some too. There was a very cool bit that I liked when I flipped Asrya over my back. About five minutes before we finished they told the parents to come inside. The parents were blown away with our performance! By Cleveland, Room 8.
