Melville Intermediate - 150 Word Recount Challenge

For our back to school energizer our students had 150 words to write about their holidays....

On Thursday of the 2nd week of the school holidays, I was on a holiday program and we were going to lazar tag/ten-pin bowling. We had to meet at the Meville community house so we could catch the bus to town. We walked to the place and we went straight to ten-pin bowling. We had about 5 turns left but we had to go to lazar tag. I was on the red team and I fired 497 shots I was mostly shooting the blue teams base and I came 2nd out of 7 players. After that we came back and finished our game and I won with 107 points I was so proud so we all walked back to the bus and we all got on. On the way back, I sat at the back. It was so hot at the back and we had to let the public on first. [Chloe]

On the last weekend of the holidays at one pm Saturday afternoon. Me and my sister went to the movies and watched Smurf Two. In 3D at Hoyts theatres. After I bought a RC spy truck at the base. At the Warehouse for some headphones. During the movie I got a free xbox360 from my dad with his new phone he got for 49 dollars. Near the end of the movie I finished my seven drinks of lift plus exta. When it finished I found twenty dollars on the floor so I picked it up and took it to spend. Later I found my dad at the play ground with my little brother and sister on the rope tower. On the way back from the base I got some new nerf guns. But when we got home my sister lost almost all my darts with in ten minutes all so.

Melville Intermediate - PES Student Blogs

Josephine from Point England School
Its the holidays in New Zealand, our students are not due back in the classroom until Monday, May 6th. However in the meantime there's some other great sites to check out. Mr Webb's been active online and amazed by the work that's going on, in the holidays, from a couple of students from Point England School in Auckland. There's an entire school of wonderful blogs at work up there, we've been very lucky to have visitors from their pages and plenty of comments. We'd recommend that if you are looking for a great students site that you check out the blogs from Josephine.  She's made over a hundred posts this term, and there's a great variety of writing about many different topics.  There wouldn't be many class pages that post a hundred times a term, so this is a fantastic effort.  Another thing is to have a look at her posts during the holiday, she's working independently in her own time to publish to her blog.  Amazing motivation, dedication and effort.  Well worth a look.

Sela from Point England School
Another great indivdual site that you can visit is Sela's  page.  Again like Josephine, Sela is posting in the school holidays in her own time.  She's written about a variety of topics and events that have occurred Netball, the Holidays (which are boring because nothing is happening apparently!) and suggestions about great learning sites that you can visit.

If your a student from Room Five at Melville Intermediate School, reading this in the holidays you can claim a special, edible prize at the start of Term Two.  You will need to visit either of the pages listed above and leave a comment (you can claim the prize twice if you leave two comments) and follow the regular comment writing procedure.

Melville Intermediate - Holiday Update

This is the second and final week of the New Zealand School Holidays for Term Two. Students will be returning to school on Monday 20th July. Due to a technical error on the part of the teacher who runs this site, there will be limited postings until the students return. What the teacher did on the last school day before the holidays was to accidentally delete 60g of video footage from the last two years, all the originals from this site and tamakitoday.blogspot.com (too big to go into the recycle bin apparently, its okay I'm nearly over it now, two weeks later!) We look forward to reconnecting with you next week and thanks for your visit!

Melville Intermediate - Thailand Students Exchange 3

For the last two weeks we've been very lucky to have a group of students from Thailand in our classrooms visiting New Zealand. They are still at school this week (in the first week of our students holiday) and leave later in the week to return to Thailand. All the students were wonderful in their time at our school and especially Bell and Tae who were based in Room 8. Our students were better for having met them and had the experience to be involved in cultural exchanges!
