Last Thursday Melville Intermediate CPA - Cultural Performing Art Group performed at the 2011 Pepe Pacifika festival in Hamilton. There were many other schools there including Frankton, Deanwell School and our friends from Hamilton East School. It was a windy day but the Melville Intermediate students looked stunning in their costumes and put on a great performance, complete with three costume changes. This is the Maori section on the day. Filmed by Mr Webb on Thursday 24th November 2011.

Melville Intermediate - How to make Maori Poi 2
This is the second lesson in the tutorial series, created by our students. The first lesson concentrated on the plaiting of the wool for the handle. This is the construction of the main part of the Poi. You need to watch yesterdays video first as it had the start of how to make it and this is the second part, created by students of Melville Intermediate on Friday 18th June 2010.

Melville Intermediate - How to make Maori Poi
This lesson is a description and the step by step instructions on how to create or make a Maori Poi for Maori cultural dances. This is created by Annalize, Holly and Fauiki. They go through the equipment that you need to create a Poi, and the steps that you need to create one. This is the first half of two lessons the second of which will be uploaded tomorrow. Thanks to Matua Michael for his help.
