As part of our "Getting to Know You" unit the students from Melville Intermediate each are studying a country from around the world and comparing it to New Zealand. During the last week in class the students brainstormed everything they knew about one of the countries that we have a blog link with - Australia, US, China, Canada, Scotland, England and Russia. In some cases it was quite a lot of information that we knew, in other cases there was much to learn! Students in the following week will be visiting a site with a series of questions for the international classes that we network with, and once we get the replies in start producing the project. If you are a networked class with us if you could help by please allowing a student to answer the questions or answer them yourselves as best you can. Melville Intermediate students will then be completing a comparison between our school and the school overseas. The first of these questions will arrive online tomorrow. If you want to be involved in this but are not a established contact from our sidebar please leave a comment and let us know!

Melville Intermediate - Bluelight Competition
The two teams were the Eagles with Sunniva, Ashley, Travis and Lamayne. The Hawks were Luke, Elijah, Aria, and Kelsey.
As we arrived we saw how many other teams and we knew we had a high standard of competition. We had to work as a team completing obstacles such as jumping through windows, climbing walls and nets, balancing on beams and pushing trailers, and that's not all! We all walked away from the course tired and with awesome times of 2:45 adn 3:03. Yet not comparing to the times of the winners with 2:21 That day Im pretty sure that we all walked away with our heads held high. By Ashley, Room 18.
