Melville Intermediate - Finlay Park 'Blob'

This is our final video for 2011 associated with Y8 School Camp at Finlay Park, its the 'Blob', an activity where one person waits at the end of the inflatable 'blob' and then from the platform high above the other end a student or two students jump onto the 'blob'.   The rush of air of course causes the first person at the end to fly through the air and into the mighty Waikato River! Filmed at Camp on Thursday 14th April 2011.

Melville Intermediate - School Camp 2011 Overview

Today students started back for Term Two for 2011. We have 11 weeks this term, students are still excited about School Camp at the end of last term. There are a variety of videos that have been uploaded during the holidays. You can view some of them by clicking on the links to view the Waterslide, click here, or students on the Rope Swing, students making Pancakes, Abseiling, Team Challenge or the three hour Bush Bash. Students are currently writing recounts for all activities and these will be posted with each of the videos as they are completed and published.  You can also view footage of students on the infamous 'Blob' and also some very special footage of Mrs Basset, one of our Y8 teachers who challenged a student to abseil which then compelled her to compete the Rope Swing! It was a fantastic experience for our students at Finlay Park and the students had a wonderful experience.

Melville Intermediate - Camp Bush Bash

This is the second to last video from our Y8 Camp. Students are currently on School Holidays for the end of Term One, 2011. They will be back at School on Monday 2nd May 2011 for the start of Term Two. We look forward to getting in contact with you all then, and thank you for your visit.

On Y8 School Camp one of the activities that students participated in was the 'Bush Bash'. It was a three hour activity with the students hiking to the Finlay Park Out Camp, where the Pancake making took place. From there students then walked for an hour and a half back to the Camp. It was a enjoyable experience for everyone involved and the views overlooking the Camp was amazing! Filmed on the second to last day of Camp, April 13th 2011.

Melville Intermediate - Justins Out Camp Pancakes

This video was created by Melville Intermediates Justin, who is not in Room Eight in 2011 but was for 2010. It was filmed at the Finlay Park Adventure Camp 'Out Camp' which was one of the activities students were involved in during our School Camp in the last week of term. Melville Intermediate - Term Two 2011

Thanks for your visit, students of Melville Intermediate are currently in the middle of their Term One School Holidays and will be returning to school on Monday 2nd May 2011. We've got a huge term ahead of us including the Winter Olympics, Inter Intermediate Rugby, Inter Intermediate Soccer, Inter Intermediate Netball, the start of the Saturday morning Netball Competition. We've also got our Camp related work being published from Finlay Park and lots more.

Melville Intermediate - Abseiling from School Camp 2011

One of the most difficult activities at school camp this year, or the one that the students were most challenged by, was the opportunity to go abseiling.   Students were are to take part in this activity with their group, and the instructor in this case was James.  This footage is of Eva from Melville Intermediate, who took to the challenge with skill and grace! Melville Intermediate - Team Building Challenge

As part of the activities for Y8 Camp this year on the first day the students competed in a series of team building events. This is Room Eight competing a challenge to pipe water into a bucket by holding the pipes to do it, assistance, or hindrance is provided by Mitchell's Father. Melville Intermediate - Finlay Park School Camp 2011

Today students from Room Eight and the entire Y8 syndicate at Melville Intermediate School returned to Hamilton from Finlay Park where we've been for the past week.   There's been a huge amount of activities that our students have been involved in at Finlay Park, one of the most popular activities was the water slide.  This video was filmed there earlier today.
