Melville Intermediate - South H Town 2012 Tara and Leiana

This video is shot by Whaea Shervan at the 2012 South H Town Talent Quest and features 2012 Melville Intermediate School pupils Leiana and Tara.  Thank you for your visit and a reminder that students in New Zealand are currently on their summer holidays.  The 2013 school year starts in the first week of February and the students from Room Five will be back online then.  We hope that those of you in the Southern Hemisphere are enjoying your holidays and those of you in the North are not too cold.  See you all again soon.

Melville Intermediate - CPA Performance 31st October

The Melville Intermediate School Cultural Performing Arts Group (CPA) are very excited to be heading to Auckland next week for shows. As part of the rehearsal the students have performed across Hamilton this week. This is the final part of our 31st October shows. The show also featured Carter from Room Two and Tara from Room One Filmed by Joey from Room Five.

Melville Intermediate - Pulse 2012 Recount

On Friday 27th of June 2012 the Melville Intermediate School rock band 'Unknown' entered the local competition called Battle of the Bands Pulse 2012.  We competed against 22 other schools in the Waikato region.  We did exceptionally well.  When we walked into the backstage all of the schools were terrified and nervous, we were too.  We waited and waited for our turn.  Finally it was time.   We sang and played our hearts out.  Finally the judges called up the top three bands, Marion, Essence and Cautious.  We said to ourselves that at least we'd tried our best, however then the MC said Unknown from Melville Intermediate come up.  We cheered and screamed.  When he was about to announce the winners we were saying "whatever happens happens" and the host said "the winner is..." the crowd was silent.  Next minute they shouted 'Unknown' from Melville Intermediate.  We screamed, we were so proud and honored. 

Rock Band students are:Tara August, Jakob Fakalelu, Leiana August, Jayden Wetere, Levi Paranihi, Dallas Peters and Tuatahi Edwards-Melsom.   Tara and Leiana August were first equal for best female vocalist.  Jaokb Fakalelu was judged second best male

Melville Intermediate - Leana and Tara: Ave Maria

This term Melville Intermediate was invited to be part of a new student leadership scheme called Kia Tu.   Initially forty student leaders were selected to undertake a training programme with a Leadership Facilitator.  From this group a smaller team of student leaders were selected to represent Melville Intermediate on an organisation committee to organise and run a Waikato Intermediate Students Talent Quest.  Parallel to this, a school wide Talent Quest was held to select seven student groups or individuals to go through to a series of regional heats, semi-finals and ultimately a final.  Melville Intermediate were fortunate to be one of two schools who had two sets of contestants selected for the final, Kyla (Room Twelve) and Carter (Room One).  This is footage of Leana and Tara singing in the Semi-Final with their version of the 'Ave Maria'.  Filmed on Friday 30th March 2012 at Berkley Middle School by Veronica from Room Five.

Melville Intermediate - Talent Search 2012

Yesterday as part of our leadership program we held a talent search at school at lunchtime when seven acts were able to perform in the Hall.  One of these acts were sisters Leiana and Tara who were singing 'Ave Maria' filmed on Thursday 1st March 2012 by Sarah from Room Five.
