Melville Intermediate - Edublogger Challenge #3

This year the students from Room Eight are thrilled to be part of the Edublogger Challenge. This challenge is an International Blogging Challenge for Classroom and Student Blogs and is being run by Miss W and the Edublogger (Sue Walters). The amount of classrooms involved, the number of students and the tasks are phenomenal and the students love it. This weeks task is about the place in which you live and sharing that information with others around the world, this ties in neatly with our writing in Room 8, so it's this weeks Literacy Writing Task.

We also have to leave comments on the two blogs either side of us again, Miss T's Classroom and Mr Millers Classroom. Finally once again I would like you all to select another blog from the list of those classrooms competing in the Blogging Challenge and Leave a Comment to their site, remember the commenting format and enjoy!

Earlier this year our students participated for the first time in Miss W's Edublogger Blog Challenge. We're thrilled to be participating in this again and its about to start with the first challenge later this week!

Melville Intermediate - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This is a video created by our two Room Eight Enviro Agents. Each class at Melville Intermediate has two Enviro agents who take charge of recycling and also collecting of material for our worm farm. Melville Intermediate - Blogging Challenge 4

Challenge 4 - The three R’sWhat are the 3R’s? If you asked your grandparents they would say reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic. Three of the most basic skills needed to survive in the twentieth century.

But we are now in the 21st century, so what do the 3R’s represent now? Reduce, reuse and recycle.

This is taken from Miss W's Wonderful blog in Australia, and is Challenge 4 from the International Blogging Challenge... Our students are still working their way through Challenge Three but never fear, we will complete both this week! If you want any more details on the challenge click here. Room 8 had a session discussing this in class first thing Monday morning and you'll see the results of this work appearing later in the week. We thought our famous Melville Intermediate Worm Farm and Recycling would be good starting points.

Melville Intermediate - International Blogging Challenge

As you should know our class is competing in the International Blogging Challenge that's run through Miss Wyatt's site in Australia. We couldn't compete in the task last week but this weeks task is right up our alley! The task is to leave a comment on ten new blogs!

Well Room 8 I've put the link through to the blogging challenge and if you click here you can also get the list to all the other schools that are competing in the challenge most of whose sites we've never been onto!

Needs to be completed by all Room 8 students by this Friday. Those of you who have the internet at home can do it from home (although please remember our blogging rules) or before school or at another time when the teacher is present.
