Melville Intermediate - Hip Hop Gymsport Nationals

Last week on Wednesday our School Hip Hop Team preformed in the Gymsports Competition at the 2010 AIMS (Association of Intermediate and Middle School) Games. The team put in a huge effort with their routine and ended up coming fourth by the slimmest of margins (only 0.5 out of a hundred separated us from third and the bronze medals!) It was a mighty performance, which you can view on the video here. Filmed at Tauranga Intermediate School on Wednesday 8/9/10.

Melville Intermediate - AIMS Games Semi-Finals Day

Today Melville Intermediate Basketball Girls team had their last pool games and semi-finals of the 2010 AIMS Games. Playing Orewa College to confirm a spot in the semi-finals an extremely close game went down to the wire with Orewa edging Melville 18-22. This meant in Pool A of the Girls Basketball Competition there was a three way tie for first place, between Melville Intermediate, Orewa College and Kaitoa Middle School. On a points count back Melville Intermediate were placed first, Kaitoa second and Orewa third. The semi-finals in the afternoon saw Melville taking on last years 3rd place team Kura o te Koutu. The Kura dominated from the start both offensively and defensively, taking a 23 point lead into half time, which proved too much for Melville to recover. The final score was 21-49 to Kura o te Koutu, worthy winners who now advance to tomorrows finals. Melville Intermediate School now has a play off for the bronze medals in the competition at 12:00pm on Thursday afternoon. The Boys Soccer team will be playing off for 18th-20th position. Our Hip Hop team performed at the Gymsport last night, and unfortunatly did not place.
