Melville Intermediate - Harlem Shake

On Friday in class Room Five were busy working on Camp related activities and we heard from next door, Room Six, about a video produced by our friends from Mr Fawcett and Room One at Glenview Primary School, and their version of the 'Harlem Shake'.  Glenview produced the following video from their class, which features the siblings of several students from our class as well as a host of students that our students know:

That inspired Mr Willis (who himself is an ex teacher from Glenview School) and Room Six to produce their own version of the 'Harlem Shake' what was wonderful about Room Six (from Melville) effort was that the lesson, discussion and publishing took an afternoon and we're proud to show Room Six, the first class from Melville Intermediate to do the 'Harlem Shake'.

  1. Our video was a quick one too. On Friday morning some Year 1 students did the "Harlem Shake" for the school during assembly. We liked it so much that we used an iPad app to make our own. Now a couple of Room One students are trying to organise the Glenview teachers to perform a shake.

  2. We'd love to see that Mr Fawcett and if you know of any other classrooms that have done the Harlem Shake let us know and we will add it. Hopefully your staff will go ahead and do it, we are talking about doing one with staff ourselves so hopefully that would get cmopleted soon, in a day

I am from Selwyn House school in Christchurch. I love your harlem shake.
My class was thinking of doing the harlem shake while the school is doing jump jam.
Had you planned to do the harlem shake or did he just come out of the blue?

  7. That's the first time i've ever seen a class do the harlem shake. It must've been really fun to do. I wish our class could do that. It would be fun for us kids. What made you decide to do the harlem shake?
