On Friday 3rd of March 2012 Melville Intermediate School participated in the Waikato Rippa Rugby Competition at Swarbrick Park, Frankton. Up for grabs was the opportunity to play the final the same day as a curtain raiser for the Blues Vs. Chiefs game at Waikato Stadium! Melville Intermediate qualified with Team Two defeating Morrinsville Intermediate (5-2)and had a unique opportunity - if Team One could defeat Cambridge Middle School in their Semi-Final then both Melville teams would be in the final.
