Melville Intermediate - National Anthem

Melville Intermediate - School Assembly.  On Friday 10th February 2012 Melville Intermediate School hosted its first formal assembly of 2012.  The New Zealand Anthem is sung in Maori first (one of three official languages of New Zealand with English and Sign Language being the others) and then in English.

    Melville Intermediate,

My name is Shelly. I go to school at Central Elementary in Chilliwack B.C Canada. I am really inspired by the fact you do your national anthem in sign launguage as well as english. Why do you do that? Do you do that every time or only on special ocasions? I think that is very cool. I wish we did that.

    Until next comments...

    Shelly.

In my school we sing our national anthem at the begging of each assembly. Does everyone in your school know how to read and speak both english and maori?

  4. Hello, My name is Sereena. I go to Central Elementary school.

I like your national anthem. It is very unique and different than ours. This is my first time listening to a national anthem other than my own Country's national anthem.

Have you ever listened to a national anthem other than your home country's national anthem? If so, What did you like about it?- and why?

    Have a great day!!

    -Sereena

  5. Ka Pai Melville Intermediate,

It was nice to hear the national anthem again!

Looks like your class has made a great start to the new year. Great to see all the new things you have been doing so far.

Oh I have something to ask. My boys want to learn the haka so I thought that it would be a great idea if I got students from home to teach my class. Do you know if anyone in your class would be willing to teach the haka? Maybe you could post a video or write to us? Let me know what you think or have any ideas.

I look forward to hearing from you soon Room 5!

    Ka kite!
    Miss Lologa:)
