Our school has begun preparing for the NZAIMS Tournament in Tauranga in August. We have been competing on Tuesday nights in a mixed league at the YMCA in Basketball. Out of 24 schools we've made the last four teams in the 'A' grade competition. The AIMS tournament is the biggest single School Sports Tournament in New Zealand. Last year over 100 different schools from all around the country competed in 12 different events. There were 12 schools from all around New Zealand who competed in Basketball. Melville Intermediate made the Semi-Finals, eventually finishing fourth. In 2009 we defeated everyone else in the competition and were crowned national champions. The team will be again competing in the Tuesday night league next term as the build up for AIMS, Tauranga and August continues!
