Melville Intermediate - Blogging the World
As part of our "Getting to Know You" unit the students from Melville Intermediate each are studying a country from around the world and comparing it to New Zealand. During the last week in class the students brainstormed everything they knew about one of the countries that we have a blog link with - Australia, US, China, Canada, Scotland, England and Russia. In some cases it was quite a lot of information that we knew, in other cases there was much to learn! Students in the following week will be visiting a site with a series of questions for the international classes that we network with, and once we get the replies in start producing the project. If you are a networked class with us if you could help by please allowing a student to answer the questions or answer them yourselves as best you can. Melville Intermediate students will then be completing a comparison between our school and the school overseas. The first of these questions will arrive online tomorrow. If you want to be involved in this but are not a established contact from our sidebar please leave a comment and let us know!
Please feel free to count us in. We live on the southeastern coast of the United States between Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC (closer to Savannah, GA). Would you mind if I "borrowed" this project idea? I think my kids would enjoy it. I want to try it with voicethread.com (which is very easy to embed in a blog and operate if you haven't tried it - they have a free educator account). Students can then post their interview questions and students all over the world can voice record or type their response.

I won't be back in school until Wednesday. I have two days of meetings I have to go to. I am going to make sure I get your questions answered on Thursday, which will be Friday to you. How would you like them to be answered; audio, video, or written?

We are here and ready to help. We have a public holiday here tomorrow (Monday) but will be back and ready to answer on Tuesday.

We love your idea and would love to answer any questions about the Midwest U.S. We already found out from Mrs Heaton's Blog that you have hedgehogs! We will be studying Missouri animals soon. Would you like to know about Missouri animals?

Hi there, As you saw on our blog, we are currently researching different states in the United States. We live in New Hampshire, which is in northeastern US. We would be glad to help out in any way we can. Let us know if you have any questions about where we live. The United States is a BIG place, but we live in a smaller state, and an even smaller town, about 20,000 people. Our school is also very small, housing 1st through 4th grades, with about 175 kids. It looks like you are doing some great things, and will we look forward to seeing some of the great things you are doing!
